How to be a Bookworm While on the Road as a Travel Nurse

Travel nursing can be a great opportunity to combine your love of books with the excitement of adventure and exploration. It’s possible to be a bookworm while still making the most of each assignment. Here are some tips for becoming a successful travel nurse who reads on the road:

  1. Make time for reading: Even if you don’t have long stretches of free time, you can always make room for at least one chapter or even just a few pages. Schedule it into your day like any other task and commit to spending that time with your favorite book.
  2. Carry books with you: Try to stock up on as many books as possible before departing for an assignment. Pack some favorites in addition to new releases so that you always have something interesting to choose from when you have downtime. You can also order new books online and have them delivered directly to your temporary address.
  3. Visit nearby libraries and bookstores: Exploring local libraries, used bookstores, and independent shops is another great way to find new texts or replace old ones when supplies run low or need refreshing. Many communities also host regular authors events held at these locations where you can meet authors whose work you enjoy in person!
  4. Take advantage of audiobooks: Audiobooks have made it easier than ever to take stories with us wherever we go! They allow us to “read” while cooking dinner, doing chores around the house, or running errands between shifts. Podcasts and e-books are also options if you prefer those media formats over physical copies of text or complete audio recordings of works in progress.
  5. Join a virtual book club: Social media platforms like Goodreads make it easy to connect with fellow readers who share similar interests and styles across the globe! Through these connections, travelers can find people who want to talk about books and exchange recommendations… from anywhere in the world!

While adapting to life on-the-go may take some getting used too, there’s no reason why travel nurses shouldn’t be able to engage in their favorite pastime -reading- while away from home! With these tips in mind, those registered nurses in search of adventure should never be without a good story again!
