Make Licensing Hassle-Free with this Easy Guide to Getting Licensed in any Noncompact State!

Getting a nursing license in one of the 11 non-compact states can be a confusing and overwhelming process. However, it doesn’t have to be so daunting when you know the right steps to take. Follow the tips below, and you’ll be on your way to becoming a licensed nurse quickly and easily!

  1. Gather the Required Documentation. You will need documents such as your official transcripts from your nursing education program, verification of your registered nurse license from all Compact & Non-Compact States where you have practiced and/or held a license, and proof that you passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) or other equivalency exam.
  2. Submit an Application for Licensure. Applications are available online and must be completed according to each state’s specific guidelines. Be sure to submit all of the necessary documents along with your application in order for it to be processed quickly and efficiently.
  3. Complete Any Additional Requirements Depending on Your State of Residence (if Applicable). Different states may require additional forms, fees or exams before granting licensure – so make sure you stay up to date on any additional requirements in your particular state before applying!
  4. Follow Up with Your State Board of Nursing Regularly Once Your Application Has Been Submitted. Once you have submitted all the required documentation, don’t forget to follow up with your state board periodically until you receive confirmation that your license has been approved!
  5. Wait For Confirmation of Your License Being Granted by Mail Or Email From The State Board Of Nursing (SBN). After receiving confirmation that your application has been approved, it should take no more than four weeks for your physical nursing license to arrive by mail.

Getting a nursing license in one of the 15 non-compact states doesn’t have to be difficult – just remember these 5 easy steps! Now get out there and start making an impact in patient care today!
